Local police authorities have searched wells as part of their investigation into the disappearance of Madeleine McCann, according to reports. British newspaper The Mirror reported that police and divers in the Algarve examined three disused wells in Vila do Bispo for eight hours last week.
The epidemiological situation in the Algarve "is under control". This was the sentiment conveyed at the recent press conference to assess the state of the current pandemic in the region, held this Friday, July 10, where it was admitted, however, that cases like the one of the hundreds of Dutch tourists currently staying in Albufeira are "worrying". António Pina, president of AMAL – the Intermunicipal Community of the Algarve -, stressed that despite this, the pandemic in the region is "under control".

Talks between Portuguese and British authorities are under way ahead of the UK’s re-evaluation of its decision to keep Portugal off its list for coronavirus restriction-free travel, Prime Minister Antonio Costa said on Tuesday.
A study by the NOVA University of Lisbon released this Wednesday defends that Portugal has all the conditions to receive tourists and that the UK's decision not to include the country on its recent travel list will have "socio-economic, political and diplomatic consequences."
