The Algarveans Experimental Theatre were in touch with Castelo dos Sonhos (Silves) as they wanted to help the charity by buying items that were needed by the less fortunate in the community.
In late June this year, €533 was spent on items for babies such as dried milk, bottle, dummies, baby wipes, creams, nappies and many other associated items.
The rotary clubs of Estoi Palace International and Olhao together with the Alliance Française held their third very successful White Night Dinner on the 3rd of June at historic Faro Catering College which was formerly a 17th century convent.
230 guests came along, all dressed in white, to enjoy the evening bringing their own food and table decorations. Entertainment was provided by the ukulele band Rattle ´n´ Hum, Clube de Danças João de Feus who performed various oriental dances and Cristina Afonso, a contestant on The Voice. Cristina sang a selection of Portuguese and international songs whilst playing her piano and encouraging the audience to get up and dance.
The annual Children’s Day event in Almancil proved to be a huge success insuring that more youngsters than ever have something to smile about.
Children’s charity ACCA has been a sponsor of Children’ Day since its inception, along with a multitude of local businesses including shops and restaurants.
It is eight years since childrens’ charity ACCA launched its annual bike ride and the 2017 event produced a stunning €7,000 which will go towards the causes it supports.
ACCA’s President, Wanda Crawford, who master-minded the event from the start, is delighted with the growing interest… and the enthusiasm of the cyclists who chose to cover routes of 25k, 50k, or an impressive 75k on the day, mapped out by Paul Beesley of Algarve Bike Holidays.

Being young we want to be like everyone else and do what everyone else does and not always have to rely on our parents all the time.
Being visually impaired can make one feel different and isolated. You are in constant need of a helper taking you to meet friends or go to school and all the things a visibly able can do without having to ask someone for help all the time. Pawsitive Assistance Dogs are about to change this.

Continuing to help local charities, The Algarveans have bought an electric Indesit oven and hob for the Portimão soup kitchen and also arranged for the installation.
The spring puppy avalanche is in full swing now at the Sanctuary. The good news is that all four of the ´A´ litter pups are now well and back in their section of the puppy pen.
