ASAE officers swoop on Alojamento Local businesses

alPortugal’s much feared Food and Economic Security Authority, ASAE, has ended its indifference to the Alojamento Local short-term tourist rental sector with a swoop on 610 registered AL businesses.

Three tourist accommodation units have been closed down due to an appalling lack of food hygiene, fines have been issued to others.

Shooting season starts despite wildfire Red Alert in many districts

Hunters' associations say all hunting will be subject to conditions advised to their members, especially in districts that are on red alert due to fire risk, but shooting will not be prohibited.

Tourist transport vehicle crash blocks Algarve's motorway

INEM125An accident blocked the Algarve’s Via do Infante motorway this morning, leaving three people injured, two of them seriously.

The crash at 11:45 on Monday morning left the Faro-bound lane blocked after a tourist transport vehicle was involved in a collision with a lorry at the Areeiro tunnel near Loulé.

Shock rise in abandoned pets before start of new welfare laws

So far in 2018, managers at Portugal’s official collection centres have reported that around 14,000 animals have been taken in.

The first part of the overall project is to carry out urgent renovation work to stop the building decaying further. This work to replace the roof and fix the walls is budgeted at an eye-watering €350,000 with €80,000 coming from the ERDF community fund.

Ryanair kicks autistic child off Faro flight

ryanair13Ryanair cabin crew ordered the removal of a thirteen-year-old autistic girl from her return flight from Faro to East Midlands Airport, leaving her distressed and stranded at the airport. 

Daisy Jarvis, 13, was forced off the flight after cabin crew refused to believe that she was flying with family members, despite there being several family members on board and had her removed by security.
