Odeleite river beach finally approved - EC funding safeguarded

odeleiteThe council of Castro Marim finally has made a decision to construct a river beach at the Odeleite reservoir.

The decision was rejected at a Chamber meeting in December last year but a consensus now has been reached within an EC funding deadline after a new version of the project was presented by Councilor José Estevens from Primeiro (CM1).

The 31st CMAS Spearfishing World Championship will take place from 6 to 10 September in the sea off Sagres, with 150 participants from 30 countries based on 95 boats.

Complaint lodged in Brussels over Montijo Air Base conversion

The basis of the objection is the government’s non-compliance with its own Strategic Environmental Assessment legislation during the decision-making process for the construction of a new commercial airport at Montijo, to take the pressure off Lisbon International Airport.
