VRSA council hits back at damning government report

vrsaVila Real de Santo António council has issued a forthright rebuttal on a report from the Public Finance Council, released on Wednesday, which placed the municipality among the five municipalities that are close to a financial breakdown.
 
The council says the report is based on the years 2014 to 2016 which "do not reflect, in a real way, the ongoing debt reduction measures" the council has made.

Challenger announced for Algarve's tourist board presidency

The decision to support Fernandes was taken by the region’s socialist mayors during a meeting on April 4th.

Sintra joins Lisbon and Porto in imposing a tourist tax

sintraChurchSintra’s council is to levy a tourist tax as from next year with the income going towards the renovation of its historic city centre.
 
The €2-a-night tax is capped at three nights per person and will go towards the estimated €50 million needed to improve the local sewage system, and upgrade many private and council owned buildings.

Everjets fined €4 million for Kamov helicopter shambles

Ryanair strike could spread across Europe

Fires - essential emergency communication system was out of action for 9,000 hours last year

The network is relied on as the only emergency communication system between the various security forces and fire-fighting commanders but spectacularly failed last year, just when it most was needed.
