Pilot's instructor to blame for deaths on Caparica beach

cessna152An 8-year-old girl and 56-year-old man, hit by an aircraft making an emergency landing on a beach at the Costa de Caparica in August 2017, died as a result of pilot error.

Flaws in emergency management and a clear breach of procedures by the flying instructor led to the Cessna 152 being landed on the beach by the trainee pilot, leading to the deaths of Sofia António and José Lima .

Locals in uproar - Praia da Luz Post Office to shut

The Inspectorate-General for Finance has stated what has been known at the organisation for years - financial misreporting to hide the amount of State support has become the norm.

Theresa May wins vote of confidence

number10Theresa May survived a vote of confidence in her leadership on Wednesday evening, with 200 Conservative MPs voting for her and 117 voting against her, after a day of fierce backroom lobbying. May had warned her MPs that a change of Prime Minister would, “put our country’s future at risk.”

The PM needed to secure at least 159 votes from Conservative MPs - half the parliamentary party plus one - to remain as leader.

Jones 'The Voice' to play Cascais

Sagres Fortress attracts the most visitors

sagresfortA strong performance at the Algarve’s regional monuments has seen record breaking numbers of visitors so far this year, with the Fortaleza de Sagres the most visited.

The Regional Directorate of Culture’s collection of monuments has attracted nearly 500,000 visitors, visiting varously the Sagres Fortress, the Hermitage of Our Lady of Guadalupe, the Megalithic Monument of Alcalar and the Roman Ruins of Milreu among others.
