New Airbnb listings checked for Turismo de Portugal AL compliance

airbnb2The Iberian Director General of Airbnb, Arnaldo Muñoz, says the collaboration between his company and the Portuguese government in ensuring all owners are submitting correctly registered properties, "is something unique and allows Portugal’s tourism to grow."

The collaboration between Airbnb and Turismo de Portugal means that, as from December 1st, all new property listings automatically will be registered on the Turismo de Portugal Alojamento Local web portal.

Road accident deaths up 13% in Portugal

accident125Accidents on Portugal’s road network have resulted in 460 deaths so far in 2017, according to the National Highway Safety Authority.

The death toll is 53 higher than in the same period of 2016, with the number of accidents registered at the Authority by the police and the GNR, up 1,902 from last year’s 116,340.

A super-moon happens when a full moon coincides with the moon being at its closest to the Earth during orbit, the perigee, which means it appeared roughly 30% larger and brighter than the smallest full moon.

Energy bills in Portugal - "more than 50% is taxes and fees"

Restaurant pays for repatriation of Brazilian woman shot dead by police

Ivanice Carvalho da Costa was killed in a Public Security Police operation when armed officers mistook the black Renault Mégane, in which she was a passenger, as a black Seat Leon getaway car being used by a gang of cash machine robbers. Officers fired 40 rounds at the car and hit da Costa in the neck. She died at the scene.

Algarve fire damage - only 290 hectares burned in 'miraculous escape'

fireautodromeThe Algarve’s almost miraculous escape from the worst of this summer’s fires has been confirmed, with only 290 hectares burned compared with 5,801 in 2016, between January and the end of October each year.

An average of only one fire a day, led the region’s relief operations chief to declare that these are excellent results with all but nine of the Algarve's 365 fires put out within the first 90 minutes.
