The Dublin Hurlers chose to return to the Portuguese resort for a warm weather training camp ahead of the start of the hurling championship season in Ireland.
They held an intensive warm weather training camp at the Amendoeira Golf Resort in the Algarve between 1st and 5th June 2014 which enabled them to prepare for the forthcoming hurling championship season which kicks off on 15th June.
The Sports Club of the International School of the Algarve (CDEIA) won 12 podium appearances in the National Championship in Track Speed Skating for the age groups ‘Iniciados’ and ‘Juniores’, held in Lagos, during the weekend 24th and 25th May which was organised by the CDEIA and the Skating Federation of Portugal.

The Kerry footballers return for a fourth time to one the Algarve’s finest resorts for warm weather training camps.
Neil Connolly, the Director of Coaching at the Cascade Performance Golf Academy, has qualified to play in the Madeira Open. The tournament is part of the European Tour, and is the second most famous tournament in Portugal. The tournament takes place in Madeira from the 8th to the 11th of May. The event will again form part of both The European and Challenge Tour Schedules, with the €100,000 first prize counting towards The Race to Dubai.

Diogo Pereira/Manuel Macedo, from Clube Naval de Cascais, in 420, Martim Anderson, from Clube Naval de Portimão, in Radial, and Henrique Brites, also from Clube Naval de Cascais, in 4.7, became the new champions of the XXV Youth Portuguese Championship, which ended last Saturday in Tavira.
The first game of the “Algarve Rugby Festival 2014” was held at Browns Sports & Leisure Club, Vilamoura on Saturday 5th April with the British Army winning 26-22 against Russian opposition, Krasny Yar.
Krasny Yar set the game off with the first two tries but British Army soon followed, ending the first half with a four point advantage (Half time score: 14-10). Twenty-three minutes into the first half, British Army was up 26-10. Krasny Yar managed to score 2 more tries and conversions bringing them up to a close final score of 26-22.
USA v Denmark at Albufeira on March 10th - The game started with what could only be said as slow, the USA looked and acted as if this would be a formality although the Danes were operating a deep offside tactic which constantly frustrated the Americans. The first shot on goal didnt come until the 10th for the US and 15th for the Danes. The game remained a midfield affair until the 23rd when the Danes broke fast and caught the US defence sleeping with a superb shot from 20 out that hit the right post and went in off. Silence ensued from the US fans and the players looked just as stunned.
