The Algarve Cup 2014 - the final update

Algarve Cup 2014USA v Denmark  at Albufeira on March 10th - The game started with what could only be said as slow, the USA looked and acted as if this would be a formality although the Danes were operating a deep offside tactic which constantly frustrated the Americans. The first shot on goal didnt come until the 10th for the US and 15th for the Danes. The game remained a midfield affair until the 23rd when the Danes broke fast and caught the US defence sleeping with a superb shot from 20 out that hit the right post and went in off. Silence ensued from the US fans and the players looked just as stunned.

The former Trinity College Dublin and London Rowing Club oarsman is the current British indoor rowing record holder over 2000m for the 75-79 age group (in a time of 7:32.6 minutes – a record set in 2008 and yet to be beaten). For Jim, turning 80 meant moving up an age group and the chance to set some new records.
