The Ladies from the hills played at Silves. Pink was the order of the day from the top to the bottom, Pink Flags, Pink Tee box markers, Pink score cards and even Pink holes on the green, not to mention 100 Ladies all dressed in Pink from hair decorations down to shoes, with strawberries & Prosecco, wraps and sangria, the day went down in a blaze of Pink, ably assisted by the team of SDM dream boys.

Rotary Club Estoi Palace International’s (RCEPI), 7th Annual Charity Golf Tournament was a great success. The event took place on the 29th of August; and over 60 golfers enjoyed a perfect sunny day at Portugal’s number one golf course, the magnificent Monte Rei Golf & Country Club - a ‘signature’ Jack Nicklaus designed course. Throughout the day the players enjoyed breakfast, driving range practice, 18 hole Stableford golf competition, and lunch with the prize giving ceremony.

On August 29, MP Cristóvão Norte visited Animal Rescue Algarve’s (ARA) shelter at Cabanita (Loulé). Norte chose ARA to mark the 5^th anniversary of the criminalisation of the mistreatment and abandonment of pets, a law which he authored. The parliamentarian is the head of PSD’s list of candidates for the Algarve, an especially relevant title considering that Portugal will be hitting the polls in October.

Time to pull at the heart strings a bit here! APAA were informed, about 6 weeks ago, of a cat that was living near the beach in Ferraguda, being fed by the Fishermen. He had such a bad skin condition that he had scratched huge holes in his face. A lady took him into the veterinary clinic in Ferraguda and Bruno the vet has made a fabulous job, with APAA´s financial help, of getting this cat - now called HARVEY - back to good health. And look at him now!

The organisers of the 2019 Back to School Appeal are delighted with the initial response and would like to thank all those who have already contributed.

It is not too late to participate. The charities ACCA and Castelo do Sonhos are hoping to help more than 800 needy children this year.

Artists from the tattoo atelier ‘Estudio Onze’ donated their artistic skills towards animal welfare on August 10^th.  Miguel Martins, Edgar, and Ana Goulão gifted the Association ‘Animal Rescue Algarve’ (ARA) with an animal welfare-themed mural.

17 year old Jack Wilson was on holiday with the Mills family in Portugal. On the first day of the holiday Jack went into the sea, dived under a wave and broke his neck, leaving him paralysed from the chest down.
